The new Hampton Inn & Suites and Summit Pointe Conference Center are creating another new spark to Sparkle City's West Side. Under the direction of developer Sam Shanbhag, the new development is igniting additional retail and residential developments in the surrounding area.

"We are excited about the new hotel and conference space in Spartanburg," says Jules Bryant, executive director of the Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau. "There are a number of business investors who believe in our community and want to see it flourish."

President and CEO of Pinnacle Hospitality, Shanbhag is at the forefront of the latest West Side development. His company broke ground on Westgate Pointe in November 2003, resulting in the Hampton Inn, the new stadium-style, 16-screen Consolidated Theatres megaplex, and Summit Pointe, which offers more than 10,000 square feet of flexible functional space.

"Sam is committed to the communities of Greenville and Spartanburg," says Suresh Mathur, executive vice president of Pinnacle Hospitality. "His approach to diversified businesses makes growth more conducive. He wants to give back to the communities because they have given so much to him."
